Uzupis. Started by artists and rebels right after the Iron Curtain came down. It has thrived in the Lithuanian capitol since 1990. Even the little back pathways are filled with art. Artists get a break on studio space in the incubator ... and it's great to be surrouned by ideas and visions and people who live creation, all the time.
I know my laptop was stolen in Vilnius, but it was an isolated incident among so many gracious and generous people on this 11-month journey (so far), so you just keep moving.
I was in Uzupis, interviewing artists and taking photos of all the street art as the guy and his pregnant wife (thief partner?) were taking off with my Mac.
I remember these moments more and that's what is most important in the end.
