At the hotel, visitors every day

Vala grew up in the farm behind her hotel, a few miles outside of Hofn. The eastern Icelandic winds blow through here and guests wake up to a field, endless sky and snow.
At reception, guests sign in or enter the breakfast room beside a portrait of her mother and father, Doria and Egill, dressed in traditional clothes.
"My parents built the farm," says Vala. "My son and I built this hotel three years ago. First 10 rooms and last May to 20."
She used to work at the gas station for many years. Owning a hotel is a good fit.
"I like visitors," she says. " I like ttyl have people from all the countries."
